CEO & Portfolio Manager
Ed Makin is a founding partner of Highclere and has over 30 years’ experience of investing in international equity markets. After two years at Hambros Bank he spent five years at Morgan Stanley Asset Management in London before joining Wellington Management in Boston in 1994. There, he helped to set up their European equity product before launching an International Small Cap strategy in 1997. Ed graduated from London University with a BA (Hons) in Economics.
Nik Hindocha joined Highclere as a founding partner in 2006 and has over 20 years of international small cap experience. Prior to joining Ed at Wellington in 2003, he spent five years at Baring Asset Management as an analyst in their UK and European small cap investment team. Nik received his MSc and BSc with first class honours in Economics from the London School of Economics. Nik speaks German and Hindi.
Director of Marketing & Client Service
Susan Steele joined Highclere as a founding partner in 2006 and has over 25 years of international equity experience. She spent 10 years with UBS in New York in a European institutional equity sales role, primarily responsible for advising clients on European equities across all market cap ranges. Prior to this, Susan spent three years at Credit Suisse First Boston in both London and New York and two years with ICC in Hong Kong. Susan has a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
Chief Operating Officer
Fergus Gilmour joined Highclere as a founding partner in 2006 and is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience in financial services. After qualifying he joined Morgan Stanley in the cash and equity derivative product groups, later moving to the Equity Financing Group. Other previous roles include Head of Product Control at Flemings and GNI, and Business Manager for the Leveraged Finance Group at Chase Manhattan. He also worked in a start-up situation for Cargill plc on the launch of an Equity Financing Group for their UK broking arm.
